Join celebrity hair stylist and author Artur Kirsh at Mavey Books, 8 Cricket Avenue, Ardmore, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 7 to 8 PM for small bites and a lively discussion of his book, 1,000 Questions Behind the Chair, which will be available on-site for sale and personalization by Kirsh. It’s not the therapist’s couch; it is even more relaxing; it is your hairstylist’s chair. While hair is being cut, colored, and styled, conversation flows like freshly blown-out tresses.

Kirsh said his inspiration for the book came from his clients, from the compliments, questions, conversations, and even some secrets he has heard over the years behind the chair. Last year, he invited his clients to anonymously write a question, thought, or inspiration on a sticky note and leave it in a box. The questions range from humorous to salacious and everything in between. He said, “My inspiration was to create a book that you don’t have to read from cover to cover, something that was fun and that would create conversation and the opportunity to laugh out loud.”

With clients worldwide, Kirsh currently spends time styling in Florida, New York City, and at his salon, Artur Kirsh, located outside of Philadelphia. He has styled luminaries who range from local and national news reporters from all major networks to celebrities, including New York Housewife Dorinda Medley, Betsy Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Celine Dion, Kathy Griffin, Nicole Miller, and Ken Downing. He has styled the supermodels of New York and Milan’s Fashion Weeks, as well as the Chanel Trunk Show, the Christian Louboutin Fashion Show, the Carmen Marc Valvo Fashion Show, and the Derek Lam Fashion Show. He continues to earn “Best of Philly” and “Best of Style” Magazine awards each year.
