Chris and Vicki Le Vine host party for Broadway Dreams Foundation at Grace Winery

Christopher and Vicki Le Vine celebrated The Broadway Dreams Foundation’s return engagement to Philadelphia with a star-studded benefit fundraiser on Sunday, August 1, 2010.   Hosted by television and Broadway personalities Nicole Parker (“MadTv,” Wicked) and Paul Canaan (MTV’s “Legally Blonde,” La Cage), the benefit took place at Grace Winery’s outdoor amphitheatre nestled on the grounds of Sweetwater Farm Bed and Breakfast in historic Brandywine Valley. Chris and Vicki Le Vine (left) welcomed Annette Tanner, Anne Ewers and Matt Wolf to the event. Anne Ewers is president of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation returns to Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (300 South Broad Street) August 2 – 8, 2010 to present their week-long Summer Performing Arts Intensive.  Broadway’s Alice Ripley, the 2009 Tony Award-winning star of Next to Normal, will lead the roster of BDF teaching artists.  Over the course of the week, Philadelphia’s youth will receive first-rate training in acting, dance and vocal performance by savvy Broadway veterans who will share their insider knowledge on the skills needed to succeed in show business. 1. Linda Swain celebrated her 50th birthday with a birthday bash at her home in Haverford. Guests were told to come as their favorite past life or character through time. Some came as Napoleons, Cleopatras, George Washington’s and more! Linda chose  ”Isis the Egyptian Goddess of  Magic and Giver of Life,”  as her favorite character. Her family wore costumes from that mythic time!  Pictured welcoming guests to the party were Lorianna, Ian, Linda and Lianda and in front Dilan and Ian Swain Jr.

Former Miss Maine hosts Miss Maine Invitational in Radnor

1. The 20th annual Miss Maine invitational took place on Saturday, July 31, 2010. As well as Arikka Dyan Knight, Miss Maine 2010, the invitational state titleholders from Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Missouri, the District of Columbia, all competing for the title of Miss America 2011, attended the event and Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen who will be competing  for Nationals this August, also attended.  The day began at Melmark in Berwyn where the Miss America contestants took part in ”To Melmark with Love,” the 11th annual talent show held at the facility. This was followed by a cocktail party, interviews and a talent presentation at the Radnor home of Alvin and Valerie Clemens. The 19th Annual Rodin Garden Party Will Take Place September 10, 2010 in the Perelman Building’s Skylit Atrium

 1. Philadelphia Museum of Art Young Friends and guests attended a preview party at the Union Trust Steakhouse on Thursday, July 29. It was held in advance of the upcoming Rodin Garden party set for September 10, 2010 in the Perelman Building’s Skylit Atrium. The Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art is a dynamic group of professionals that supports Museum initiatives. The group provides young people (aged 21 to 45) in the Greater Philadelphia area with a forum to participate in a variety of educational and social activities through special access to the Museum’s collections and a consistent mission to enhance art appreciation. Funds raised through the group’s activities are used to support conservation and preservation of the collections, educational programming and international special exhibitions. Museum membership at the individual level ($65) or higher is required to add on Young Friends benefits ($50). Social events sponsored by Young Friends include the annual Winter Gala held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the annual Rodin Party held in the fall at the Rodin Museum, the annual Holiday Party, private tours of the Museum’s galleries, previews of special exhibitions, First Friday gatherings held in Old City locations, and much more. MUSEUM’S YOUNG FRIENDS HOST DESERT JEWELS GARDEN PARTY

The Young Friends of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a lively group of young professionals and art enthusiasts, is pleased to announce the 19th-annual Rodin Garden Party, scheduled for Friday, September 10, 2010, from 6:30 – 9 p.m. The event is traditionally held at the Rodin Museum, but has been moved this year to the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building while the Rodin Museum undergoes exterior renovation. More than 400 guests are expected to attend this consistently sold-out party, which welcomes autumn from the ultramodern interiors of the Perelman Building’s Skylit Atrium. Funds raised through this event support the Young Friends’ mission of art acquisitions, conservation, and preservation of works in the collections, as well as education and outreach programming.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore Desert Jewels: North African Jewelry and Photography from the Xavier Guerrand-Hermès Collection¸ featuring three decades of objects collected by the renowned Paris-based fashion empire that illuminate the diversity and beauty of traditional North African jewelry design. Some 80 pieces of jewelry and nearly 30 late-19th-century and early-20th-century photographs taken by North African artists will also be on display. A pre-party will kick off at 5:30 p.m. for V.I.P. attendees, who will receive exclusive benefits including a private guided tour, access to a lounge with a private bar, and other luxury surprises. V.I.P. tickets are $60 for Young Friends members and $75 for non-Young Friends members and guests. Advance tickets are $35 for Young Friends, $50 for non-Young Friends members and guests
Breezy summer cocktail attire is encouraged. The evening includes an open bar, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a raffle. The main party begins at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
