1. The Women’s Committee of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) of Eastern Pennsylvania hosted ”The Queen’s Tea” on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Merion Tribute
House, Merion Station. This was no ordinary tea party, LLS recruited hostesses for each of the tables and they were responsible for the following: Invite nine of their closest female friends and family members – mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, and neighbors. They choose a table theme and no two tables at the event were the same. Table prizes were awarded based on creativity. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. 1. The Radnor Hunt Races celebrated its 83rd Anniversary on May 18, 2013 during the spring tradition of steeplechasing at the Radnor Hunt. Six exciting races featured horses galloping over hurdles and timber fences for purses totaling $180,000. Attendees enjoyed tailgate picnics with friends and family while helping to win the race for open space. All proceeds from the Radnor Hunt Races benefit the land and water preservation programs of the Brandywine Conservancy in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. 1. 1. Home of the Sparrow’s ”Jazz at Brushwood” fundraiser will take place at Brushwood Stable in Malvern on Saturday, June 15, 2013. This year’s theme will be “An Evening in Paris” which will boast the sights of Paris in a festive, fun-filled and elegant atmosphere. 1. The Shipley School held its annual”Secret Gardens” garden tour on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The annual event featured an exclusive viewing of breathtaking and seldom-seen gardens. This year’s gardens were in Newtown Square, Wayne, Villanova, and Devon. Attendees lunched at The Willows, viewed art from the Gardens Gallery, shopped the vendors boutiques and made purchases of treasures for home and garden at the Shipley Green Thumb Shop. The Shipley Secret Gardens Tour began in 1975 and is held each May. The Pennsylvania East Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) held the 2013 Interior Design Awards (IDA) Gala on Friday, May 10, 2013 at XIX Restaurant, atop the Hyatt at the Bellevue, in Center City Philadelphia. The festive evening included cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dancing, and of course, the awards presentation. More than 200 people attended to help celebrate The interior design profession. This year’s Master of Ceremonies was Emmy Award-Winning host George Oliphant from George to the Rescue fame. On his television show, Oliphant teams up with design and construction experts to rescue families or communities in need of home improvements. Honorary Chair was Ellen Kravet Burke of Avalon, New Jersey. She is Executive Vice President at Kravet, Inc. – an industry leader in the home furnishings industry. Nancy
Wildermuth of Doylestown and Kaye Taylor of Ardmore were this year’s IDA Gala Co-Chairs. Wildermuth has been an active Allied ASID Member of the Pennsylvania East Chapter since 2008; Taylor has been an active member of ASID since 1985, having many leadership positions, including President of the PA East Chapter in 1993. The IDA’s are Philadelphia’s only interior design competition open to all those involved in the design community, including Interior Designers, Architectural and Design Firms (commercial and residential), Kitchen and Bath Designers, and Interior Decorators.

 1. The Seventh Annual Kelly Rooney Foundation golf outing, dinner and auction took place on Monday, 13, 2013. The day began with shot gun starts at both Applebrook Golf Club and Overbrook Golf Club and ended with a dinner and auction at Overbrook G.C. The Kelly Rooney Foundation (KRF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed to continue Kelly’s pursuit of a generation of women fully empowered with the knowledge and ability to prevent breast cancer. KRF is driven to inspire support, research, and eradication of breast cancer in young women. Since inception in 2006, KRF has raised more than $1 million that has primarily funded two key initiatives: Raising awareness through BreastCancer.org and finding a cure through the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
